When I say "AWESOME" you say "COMMERCIAL"

Few things make me freak out like a rad commercial. Here's a few of my favorites. Enjoy this!!

The gal on the left is so enthusuastic! It's like she's been waiting her whole life for an invisible cheering section. The rest of the spots in this series are pretty darn funny as well.

Geico has consistently made clever commercials, but this one is hands down my favorite. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!??!?!?

I thank God every day for the internet and youtube.com because it makes finding oldies but goodies like this one possible.

Oh, how I love a smartly placed talking animal.

What the french, toast?!

It's commercials like these that get me through all of the rest of the crap out there on the airwaves. Man, is there some crap on tv!!

This is no longer my problem.

There is a girl who satellites around my world. I don't particularly care for her company but I have no real dislike for her. She doesn't inspire any type of passionate feelings in me one way or the other. A while ago this girl pulled me into a room at a party to basically clear the air between us. Now, the truth is that, yes, she bugged me. Yes, I was upset that she had a job and I didn't. After having this discussion with her, however, I decided to put away any negative feelings I had for this girl because she had the guts to come and talk to me. That didn't mean that I was going to be her new best friend, but I thought "Hey, ya know what? Any reason I have for disliking this girl is fairly petty and I don't need to carry around toxic feelings." So that's what I did. Anytime I saw her after that in public I was civil to her. No, fuck that, I was downright nice to her! I engaged her in conversations, I asked how she was doing. I gave this girl no reason whatsoever to believe that I still harbored any ill will towards her. I thought this issue had been resolved.

Now it comes to my attention that she is still under the impression that I hate her. Not dislike, but HATE her. She recently told a very good friend of mine about a dream she had where I pushed her down a hill. My pal, lovely gal that she is, commented that she couldn't imagine me doing something like that to anyone to which this girl replied "Yeah, well, except for me." Later this girl came up to my friend and starts saying that she wasn't trying to say anything bad about me, blah, blah, blah. My friend told her that they would be having a very different conversation if this chick had said something bad about me. So now I can't help but get the impression that this girl is spouting of to anyone who will listen about how much I hate her.

Now, I'm a little miffed because I was under the impression that we'd cleared the air. I can only be led to believe that this is now just an attempt to turn herslef into some sort of victim. "Oh, feel bad for me because Amelia hates me. Meh! Meh, meh, meh, meh, meh!" Unfortunately for her, this is now solely her problem. I'm done being nice to her if she's going to believe that it's not genuine. I'm not going to waste any of my time making sure that someone I don't really care about knows that I don't despise her. I mean, since she's going around believing it anyways, choosing to ignore what I have already told her, it makes absolutely no difference how I actually treat her.

The other thing that melts my butter is that I don't hate people for no reason. So I also have to wonder what she has done that would make her believe that I have good reason to hate her. If you're not doing something wrong, stop acting like you're doing something wrong. Know what I'm saying?

Ugh. She should have just left it alone.

I stole this survey from Q!!!!

...But I love a good survey, so I don't feel bad about it.

1. if you won an award at work except you won it in the type of setting like the tony awards, who would you thank / furthermore, what would you say?
I'm pretty sure I'd be at least slightly intoxicated so I think my acceptance speech would be alot like Pam's speech when she won The Dundy on The Office.

2. what's the one household chore that you can rationalize paying someone else to do?
Umm...I can only pick one? I'm gonna go with taking out the trash. Huck and Bear can attest to that.

3. unusual circumstances warrant the trusting of privileged information with a friend you have yet to place confidence in with such important matters; who do you choose?
I'm gonna say Frank. I've never really had to trust him with something of a delicate nature but I know he values discretion highly.

4. your best friend is in town / out of a coma / whatever, and wants to hang out on a Saturday night, but doesn't want to go to the bar. what do you end up doing?
I'm with Q on this one. I think we'd probably sit around gabbing our faces off. Maybe there would be some wine or something.

5. if you were to switch lives with someone, like on vice versa, what areas / people in your life would people find downright insurmountable to improvise with? I'm not sure I really understand this question. I guess my career choice would be hard for some people to deal with. And my folks, but just because they never stop with the questions!

6. when you're stressed beyond reason, what do you do to calm your nerves / bring you back down to earth?
Eek. I usually light up when I'm stressed and then I'll talk to Huck, Mel, Amy B, Seana, Q or Bear.

7. pick one ex from the past (names and dates add interest & satisfy curious minds) and tell him or her something.
To the Mexican: The thing with Kid wasn't just once...it was several times and it was a lot more than a kiss.

8. if someone accidentally backed into your vehicle, causing body damage, as you were walking up to it in a parking lot, how would you handle the situation?
I'd probably scream like this: AAHHH!!! You just hit my car!!

9. name a less-than-desirable location you'd really like to visit:
Hmmm...I don't know. Every location I can think of is desirable on account of the people there. Albuquerque maybe? Or Fort Worth? Are those places really undesirable?

10. what car / truck do you think is just so beautiful / cool, you actually stare at it?
Any old car that's been restored. I'm a big fan of old Chevy or Ford trucks. Oh! And this guy in I knew in high school had this sweet Chevillle that he'd fixed up. That car was GORGEOUS.

11. what car / truck is just so friggin' ugly, you wish the president would immediately halt its production.
I'm gonna have to go with Bobby's gold PT Cruiser. That thing is fugly!

12. if you owned a boat / yacht / ship, what would you name it & why?
In a tribute to my dad and to my childhood, I'd name it The Tio Pepe.

13. what milestone event / experience in your past do you consider to be something that changed your life forever.
Accepting the job at Barter.

14. there's probably something you want to say to someone, but you just can't bring yourself to say it; tell it here, say it now:
Huck, you are one of the most amazing women I have ever known. Please live up to your potential. I love you!!

15. do you enjoy a group dynamic or would you rather hang out with a few close friends?
I enjoy both but I despise going into any situation where I know two people or less.

16. how are you on alone/ having alone time?
I'm fine with it. I'm also getting my fill of alone time right now. BEAR!! COME HOME!!!

17. what's your favorite thing to do with your family?
My favorite thing to do with my family is sit around the kitchen and help my mother cook. We all add something, whether it's actual help or good conversation.

18. someone in your office needs to be grabbed & told:
I don't have an office so I'm gonna apply this to my last job: It's not a competition!

19. I'm a stranger trying to strike up a conversation with you when you're alone, where are we at & what would i need to talk about in order to get your attention? I'm REALLY bad at talking to strangers. Seriously, if I don't know you I won't even look you in the eye.

20. what quirks emerge when you're happy, nervous, upset and angry.
happy - Ummm, I don't know.
nervous - I get a little nauseous and my feet sweat. That's a lot of fun at auditions.
upset - Oh yeah, I'm a cryer.
angry - I get kinda ghetto. I starting pointing a lot and my head starts swinging about and I over enunciate. It's like "What did you just say?!?!?

Hey...Hollywood guys!

Hey! Hi! Hello there!

So...ummm. Ok, you guys know how Lindsay Lohan has actually had a pretty bitching career and all? I mean she's done a bunch of movies and she's worked with some really badass people like Meryl Streep and Tina Fey and Robert Altman and Lily Tomlin!! Lily Tomlin!! That's really rad! I think that's really rad. So, anyway, you guys also know that she...well...she's really not that good. Seriously. Ok, well, she did kinda rock in The Parent Trap but since then there hasn't really been anything to compare. And you guys know how she's been in and out of "rehab" and she wanders around without underwear, and I think she's a cutter. I'm not trying to spread gossip but there's pictures and stuff. And she always shows up late and then she's, like all, "dehydrated" and she has to leave after making everyone wait for 4 hours and she's just generally shitting on everything that's been basically handed to her on a silver platter. AND she plays with knives...

But ummm...you know who doesn't show up late or snort cocaine in bathrooms or wander around in short skirts with no drawers on and is always prepared and NEVER gets dehydrated? THIS GAL!! I'm just saying, you know...I'm available. You know where to find me.

Look, I'm smiling!

Occasionally, I get a bout of the grumpies and it usually takes a metaphorical smack on the head to snap me out of it. Huck is pretty darn good at it and has the ability to do so without making me feel like an asshole for being a grumpy gus.

Regardless of how the smack is delivered, I'm always grateful that it is. I hate being in a bad mood. And sometimes, like now, when I'm unemployed and living in a little town, it gets very easy to let a bad mood get the better of me. But it's summer now and I'm flushing that yucky mood down the drain. And really, what do I have to be upset about? I'm young, I'm healthy, I just got back from a ridiculous trip to Europe, I have people who love me, I have people who love me enough to tell me to "Sack up, ho!", and it's SUMMER!! That's plenty to be happy about. That's more than a lot of people have.

So to anyone who has stuck around to wait out one of these moods: Thank you.
