Pretty...

Ta da!

Unfortunately my old stand mixer that I adored went kaput and the fine people at KitchenAid sent me this fine specimen. And while I miss the dash of color the previous mixer provided, this one actually matches my new kitchen much better. Thank God they didn't send me one of the pink ones or something! Yikes!

"i beg you to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. do not search for the answers, which could not be given you now, because you would not be able to live them. and the point is, to live everything. live the questions now. perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer."
-rilke

I am trying very hard to love the questions themselves, but it's a challenge right now. I don't like locked rooms and I'm frustrated by information I seek that insists on eluding me. It's difficult to not feel angry and frustrated by this pointless pondering. I have no choice but to imagine the worst possible answers. To try to create anything else feels naive and foolish. I try to tell myself that I can't force the things I seek but so far it's not working...

How can I not seek the answers when all I have is questions?

Sunday Night Musings

A couple of things before I put this crazy week to bed:

- When a boy in a neck brace asks you for your phone number, what exactly is the best response?

- Guitar Hero II is a rad game. Seriously, this game is like heroin and I am LOVING IT!!!! I played it for the first time tonight and I can tell you in no uncertain terms that I am a total rock star. I AM A GOLDEN GOD!!!! If anyone reading this has access to this game, please, please, please go play it immediately. My absolute dream would be to play it with G because I know he would rock out to fullest and that it would be a sight to behold.

- I was doing some driving tonight and Delilah was on the radio. Delilah always makes me think of BB because he always mentioned listening to her wise words on his way home from work. I personally think she's kinda creepy...

- I am so excited for Sweeney Todd and The Golden Compass! I saw an extended preview for the latter recently and I clapped my little hands and giggled like a school girl. Hooray for Christmas movies!!

- Y'all! Dexter is getting so intense it's giving me agita!! I almost feel like I have to stop watching until I can just watch the rest of the season in one sitting.

- Q is, in fact, coming to the Burque for New Year's and I could not be more excited. I don't know what we're doing yet but I'm sure a ruckus will be raised and a pickle will be gotten into. Yea!

'Night, 'night.

Me and Turtles making friends, flying through the sky so fancy free

In case it isn't clear, that's yours truly with a baby sea turtle. A baby sea turtle that was rescued and that I released into the ocean in the hopes that it would have a better shot at survival. I swear to god, this trip was like an episode of Wild Kingdom. I released several baby sea turtles, saw more than one sting ray swimming not ten feet from me, had a run-in with a crocodile in the ocean, saw a badger and a family of raccoons at dinner one night, dived out of the way of several kamikaze seagulls and other ocean birds (and in case anyone is wondering: Dived is the commonly used British conjugation while dove is more popular in the US. Perhaps I should use dove seeing as how I am an American and all...meh.TANGENT!!!)

ANYHOO, tal vez mas tarde voy a decir mas de mi viaje a...Zihuatanejo...Ciao, ciao!!

*A/N* Does anyone else ever see pictures of themselves from certain angles and think "Maybe I should start saving up for plastic surgery." or is that just me?

Alrighty! So for those of you who don't read Spanish...LEARN! But you can get an adequate translation at
http://babelfish.altavista.com/tr. Anyhoo, I'm running off to Mexico for a while so posts will most likely be nonexistent. But I'm sure there will be plenty of fantastic and hilarious pictures to post upon my return. I'm going to lay in the sun and learn to surf, and sample fine tequilas and eat glorious food! Hooray!!

P.S. If anyone out there hasn't seen Planet Earth, go out and but it right now! Go! Now! I know this is a complete tangent but I'm watching a replay of one of the episodes and it truly is an amazing show. And Man vs. Wild is starting back up! Eek! Bear Grylls is going to run around and eat sheep eyeballs and build a hut out of hedgehogs or something and I'm going to love him for it!!

Sometimes we learn things about people that we know and love that irrevocably alter the way we see them. Maybe things don't change for the worse or even for the better, but they are still...different. Just a little off, a little strange. What's important to remember during these times of change is that we are all made up of a billion small parts. Realizing that one small part of someone is not what we had thought it would be doesn't mean that the love we had for said person is gone. It just has to be moved around a bit to fit inside the new information.

It's so easy to put our hopes and dreams into the people we love. It has happened frequently to me in the past that I place the people I love in such high esteem, that I couldn't help but be disappointed when they forced my view of them to change. It wasn't that these folks meant to hurt me, they were just living their lives in the best way that they could, ya know? The only way they knew how...

I am learning...I am learning that I cannot make people live their lives with solely my best interests at heart. People need to live their truths, their lives. I can't ask people to be uncomfortable so that I can remain snug and protected. It's not right, it's fair.

My point, I do believe that I have one in here somewhere, is that people don't force us to see them in a different light because they want to hurt us or place some type of burden on us. They do it because they just need to be honest with themselves and with us. They are looking for that one person who will say, in the face of big news, "Ok, take my hand and off we go, together."

Q- I know that it's all a bit much right now. Just remember that this isn't your baggage to handle. Your sole purpose is to be a travel buddy. Just grab the hand, hold on tight and off you go.

Hooray for me!

I know that what I'm about to say may not be that big of a deal to most people but, to me, it is a great achievement. Today, for the first time, all on my own, without any help I installed a home theatre system. BY MYSELF!!

You see, I'm not very good with this sort of thing and there has usually been some person or another to do this kind of dirty work for me. But not today! Today, I tackled this small hurdle on my own and am now enjoying the fruits of my labor. And I only had to call the support line once.

I AM A TECHNOLOGICAL WIZARD!!!!

*A/N* I realize that I said I set this thing up by myself and then in, like, the same breath I said that I called the support line. Ok, look, I called the support line to ask a question about something that wasn't in the manual. I still did it by myself! I DID!! Don't you people judge me! And yes, you a-holes, I figured out how to do italics on my computer. ALL BY MYSELF!!
